BACKGROUND:  When apprentice printer Ben Franklin, first arrived in Philadelphia at the age of 17 he experienced an economic recession.  Returning from London a few years later, Master Printer Ben Franklin applied his skill and engaged in trade.  By the age of 23 (1729) Ben was an advocate of paper money. Ben was writing about the topic in pamphlets and discussing it with the Pennsylvania Assembly.
